<단어들>은 수어 문자들이 ‘공간 위치’,  ‘비수지 기호’, ‘크기’ 등 다양한 요소를 만나며 새로운 뜻을 지닌 이미지로 나아간다. 수어에서 가장 두드러지는 손의 움직임 외에도, 억양과 같은 역할을 하는 얼굴 표정, 담화참여자 사이에 자리하는 수어공간(sign space) 모두 문자 안팎에 존재하는 유형의 기호로 말하고자 하는 바에 의미를 덧 대어 드러난다. 들리지 않고, 보이는 언어였던 수어는 비로소 보이지 않는 의미의 행간을 획득하는 시도를 한다. <Words> evolve into images with new meanings as sign language characters interact with various elements such as 'spatial position,' 'non-manual signals,' and 'size.' In addition to the prominent hand movements in sign language, facial expressions that serve a role similar to intonation and the sign space that exists between discourse participants all add meaning to what is being expressed, revealing themselves as types of signs both within and outside the text. Once a language that was invisible yet visible, sign language now attempts to capture the unseen meanings between the lines.
